A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... began the millennia long conflict to determine the one true king, of toys.
The battle between Mattel, Lego, and Hasbro has recently moved into the digital sector; recently Hasbro announced a partnership with 3D Systems and their competitors have, in turn, moved to DEFCON 3.
In a recent interview with Financial Times, Lego chief financial officer John Goodwin, made it very clear that Lego finds 3D printing "a fascinating development." He spoke of the need to become "much more agile in digital propositions," and adapt the overall business model for the digital age.
It should be noted, however, that this isn't Lego's first conversation about 3D printing.
The motivations for this? Maybe it's out of a forward-looking business strategy, or pressure in the market by other manufactures... maybe they even see 3D printing as threat..
If these large movements by such well-established companies are indicators of anything, it's probably the fact that 3D printing is definitively making it's push into the mainstream.
