Mold3D has teamed up with online 3D printing community and marketplace, Pinshape to launch an Avatar 3D Design Challenge.
The premise is simple, imagine it's the near future where Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are as common as smartphones are today. People express themselves via their Avatar, an alter ego and virtual space personification.
Because an Avatar is an expression of individual personality, the contest encourages entrants to design a design of their image. Whether it be a towering giant, a magical unicorn, or space cowboy, it's all fair game.
Imagination is encouraged and judging criteria includes creativity, technical excellence and ease of 3D printing the model, a well documented background story for your Avatar, and clean presentation of assets.
The challenge features sponsors from 3D Printing Company Formlabs, Oculus, Pixologic, 3D Artist Magazine and are own Mold3D Academy.
Prizes range from an impressive grand prize of a Formlabs SLA 3D Printer and Oculus Medium
headset with controllers, to 2nd and 3rd place prizes that include Mold3D Classes, ZBrush design licenses, and a 1 year subscriptions to 3D Artist Magazine.
The challenge runs from June 18 to August 31st and features industry judges who have worked
for the likes of Blizzard, Oculus, and Microsoft.
