As a child growing up in Manila, Giovanni Nakpil was greatly influenced by the magic of sci-fi and horror films. After studying Computer Graphics in Toronto, his multidisciplinary career led him to Maryland, Texas, California, and Washington. As a digital model supervisor for Industrial Light and Magic, Giovanni worked on principal creatures for "Star Trek" and "The Avengers," amongst other notable Hollywood films. He then switched gears by designing and building video game assets for Valve Corporation.
Giovanni currently works at Oculus, where he is pushing himself even further, helping to define the look of VR.

Paul is a senior modeler with over 14 years of professional experience who is also an acclaimed 3D printing artist with a focus on jewelry design work. Paul's 3D printed jewelry work has been shown at 3D Print shows and galleries around the world.
Recently one of his jewelry pieces was nominated as a finalist in Boston Museum’s rapid jewelry contest, and he is currently nominated for an " Innovation In 3D printing award " from CGaward.com.
Join us as we talk to Andres Parada and his experience using sketching, to create designs and products for industrial and concept design. Andres will also be doing a 20 minute demo showcasing some of his sketching techniques.
Andres is an industrial designer and illustrator born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden with his roots in Chile. He has been instrumental in the designing and development of a number of products and services for clients such as: Samsung, Microsoft, Hasbro, HP, BlackBerry, McDonalds, LG, Pepsico, Flextronics, and others.
Lily will be talking to us about her experience with 3D Printing, CAD modeling and product design. There will also be a demo of some of her tips and techniques using Rhino.
Lily Su is a CAD modeler specializing in developing products from concept to prototype in the medical, automotive, and tabletop industries. She is an educator working with design teams to add 3D creation as part of their in-house design process to facilitate a better transition from concept to end-product. She has worked on products for Disney, Stratasys, MCor, Nickelodeon and Sears. She has also helped develop inventions from lock mechanisms, to live hinges, all with attention to aesthetics and ergonomics for products that are well-conceived and well-thought out.
Michael Defeo will be talking about his experience in the animation, toy and commercial industry. He will also be doing a ZBrush demo and showing the importance of shapes and form.
Michael Defeo is a sculptor whose specialty lies in translating 2-D character designs into fully-fledged 3-D models. He hand-built the modeling and sculpting studios at Blue Sky Studios and served as the head of each for 15 years. While at Blue Sky, Michael brought countless characters to life for ICE AGE series (1-4) ROBOTS,HORTON HEARS A WHO, RIO, and Epic.
Michael has also worked with Illumination Entertainment, helping to create characters for DESPICABLE ME 2 and THE LORAX, and the upcoming THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS.
